Halftone

My client wanted to add a halftone printing feeling to her business card.  Like you would see in classic comics or a Lichtenstein.  Halftone, for those who don't know is a printing technique that simulates a continuous tone by using tiny dots.  The dots were usually particularly visible in classic comics because publishers printed on the cheap.

To make the halftone effect for the business card I used a video tutorial from Joao Faraco .  And... TaDa!

TV Comics begin again. Get Some!

During the Spring TV season I made a comic every single time I watched TV.  I set this rule to curb my enthusiasm for sweet television crack.  Now that my stories are back I will post comics every Thursday.  

Wednesday is for TV and of course, Saturdays are for sleeping. 

I not only watched New Girl  this week...I bought a Hulu Plus subscription.  I feel so naughty. 

Troubadour Profiles

I just finished making profile pictures for the powerhouse reporting, data processing, statistical analysis team over at Troubadour Research and Consulting .

This was a fun deal where I made these beautiful people into drawings in three easy steps:

Step 1:  Study multiple photo references and find a style/icon that represents the subject.  Then produce a rough sketch to determine the pose and color options.

Step 2: Submit the sketch to the client for notes.  Make sure the client isn't afraid to tell you the truth: That she is WAY prettier than the sketch.  

Step 3: Deliver an updated sketch and get approval and then add color.   Repeat the process for all the members of the team.  You can see what these fine people do for a living (and what they can do for your business) here!
